Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

We were talking over at Gatchamania.net, and many of us were wishing for monthly Gatchaman (or one of the versions) art. I explained that we had tried to put together a calendar years ago, but never actually printed the calendar.

Instead of a calendar, I'd like to challenge all of you wonderful artists to produce one Gatchaman - themed piece per month this year. What we'd like to see is a seasonal fanart for each month (for example: January- snow, February- Valentine's Day, March- St. Pat's, April- Easter, and so on...). It isn't limited to those topics, but it would be nice to be able to connect your picture to the month it represents. The deadline for each picture will be the last day of each month. Just draw a picture and post it here. Please indicate in your comments that your picture was made for the "Gatch-a-Month" Challenge (GAM). If you post it and label it for this challenge, we'd like your permission to also post/promote your artwork over at Gatchamania.net. I know they will be so excited to see and comment on some new artwork each month!

I already have my idea, so I need to get my pencils out!

Happy 2015! Hope it is a great one!

Some of you know that I have caught people taking some of my fanart and making it into a T-shirt so that they could sell it before. I don't mind people using my work, I just don't appreciate them trying to make a profit out of my artwork without my permission! I found out that two people on Redbubble.com were at it again. I contacted Redbubble and gave them the information they needed (showed them my DA links) and the T-shirts (stickers, cell phone covers, etc.) were promptly removed. However, I still see fanart on their Gatchaman page that I recognize. I imagine that these artists were not asked for permission to sell their work, either. Maybe some of you will recognize some of these works and can help me to contact the artists who are being taken advantage of. I figure that we, as a community, need to look out for each other whenever we can.

Take care,

Just wanted to share some news with you. Mick (sorry- I can't remember the letters at the end- "nm", maybe? I tried to find you in my friend list and couldn't find you- so I'm posting here and hoping you will see it) asked me the best place to get Gatchaman DVDs. I've gathered quite a bit of info. for you, and hopefully others will benefit as well! ;-)
I asked for help over at Gatchamania.net- one of the most active Gatchaman fan sites and here is what they said.

Electric White told me: "Both the OVAs and the entire series are available @ rightstuf.com on both Blu-ray and DVD."

Tatsunokofan (aka James- our "Gatch Guru") says:
"The best price I've seen for the sets is on Deep Discount.com (www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm). They're a place I've used before, and can vouch for their service.

They're offering a sale right now, and if you use the promo code BIGSALE during checkout, you can purchase the Gatchaman Blu-ray set for $87.55, the DVD set for $66.07, and the OAV DVD for $15.52. The sale runs through November 18th, so you have a little time to place your preorder."

Redbird said: "Springie, is your friend looking for the BOTP series? I only ask because you mentioned 86 Episodes (and not the Gatch 105). If she wants that and if she has a region free/all region DVD player she can get the Region 2 Madman set from EzDVD or daveedee.com."

Also, they mentioned that there is a post showing the difference between the original ADV DVDs and the new Blu-Ray set. It was interesting to look at.

I hope this helps you, Michelle! I have the entire ADV collection, but I am interested in the Blu-ray set, myself! ;-)

Enjoy!

Sad News

This was on Diinzumo's Facebook page this morning. I am still reeling...

I have some bad news to share: "Katsesama" (I didn't use her real name here because she didn't want her real life connected to her online life), who was a deviant here and put together a long-standing Gatchaman site has passed away. My deepest condolences to her friends and family.

I have a fond memory of meeting her for the first time and dancing a silly Gatchaman dance with her at one of our Comic Con Gatcha-gatherings...she was also a great encouragement to me as I began to draw fanart. She also started a Gatchaman Fan Page here on Deviant Art and then passed the reigns over to me.

Here is a link to one of the great Gatchaman websites she created:

Just spreading the good word...a Japanese live action movie for Gatchaman is coming out in August. My fingers are crossed, hoping I'll eventually see it with English subtitles. Here's a link to the trailer:

Also, there is some great new Gatchaman merchandise for sale in August- just type in "Gatchaman" in the search box to see some neat things. I want that pin! ;-)
Here's the link:

...And here's something I'm not as excited about, but maybe I'll change my mind... a new show called "Gatchaman Crowds". No, it doesn't have any of the original characters with the exception of Berg Katse. I'll give you the link so that you can have a look at it and decide for yourself...

Looks like a busy summer for Gatchaman fans! Enjoy!
